Soccer Mommy is the recording project of Nashville singer-songwriter Sophie Allison, who was born in Zurich, Switzerland in 1997 and raised in Tennessee. Allison began posting home recordings to Bandcamp in 2015, self-released For Young Hearts in 2016, and dropped out of college to tour after Fat Possum Records gathered her early material as the compilation Collection in 2017. Her debut studio album, Clean, arrived on Fat Possum in March 2018 with Gabe Wax producing; a breakup record built on unhurried guitar figures and plainspoken writing, it drew broad acclaim and topped Jon Caramanica's year-end album list for The New York Times. Color Theory followed in 2020. For Sometimes, Forever, released by Loma Vista Recordings in June 2022, Allison worked with producer Daniel Lopatin of Oneohtrix Point Never at Sound Emporium in Nashville, pushing the songs toward shoegaze texture and industrial noise; it is her best-reviewed record to date and reached number 137 on the Billboard 200. Her fourth album, Evergreen, came out in October 2024 and was made with producer Ben H. Allen III at Maze Studios in Atlanta. Written in the aftermath of a personal loss, it sets aside the synthesizers of its predecessor for clean guitar tones, acoustic instruments, flutes and strings, and was preceded by the singles Lost, M, Driver and Abigail. On stage Allison is backed by Julian Powell and Rodrigo Avendano on guitars and keyboards, Nickolas Widener on bass and Rollum Haas on drums and drum machines. She toured internationally behind Evergreen through 2025 and is co-headlining a United States tour with Snail Mail in the fall of 2026.
