Prostitute

Prostitute is a noise rock band from Dearborn, Michigan, formed in 2020 by vocalist Moe Kazra and drummer Andrew Kaster. The lineup is completed by guitarists Ross Babinski and Bret Wall and bassist Dylan Zaranski. Its music combines post-hardcore and hardcore punk heaviness with Arab musical influences, abrupt rhythmic shifts and a strained, declamatory vocal delivery that reviewers have described as borderline deranged. Kazra's lyrics address anti-Arab racism, the War on Terror and Middle East politics, frequently routed through religious imagery; the band's debut album centers on a narrator who believes himself divine while in practice serving ego and gluttony. The setting matters to the material, since Dearborn has one of the largest Arab American communities in the United States. Critics have connected the group's sound to Swans, Death Grips and Black Midi, though its use of Arab modal melody and percussion gives the records a texture uncommon in American noise rock. Prostitute introduced itself with the single Judge in 2023, followed by All Hail in 2024, and self-released the album Attempted Martyr in October 2024. The record drew unusually broad critical attention for a self-issued debut: Pitchfork's Nina Corcoran rated it 7.8 and called it remarkably polished, and it was covered widely across the underground press, including Post-Trash and The Needle Drop. Mute Records reissued Attempted Martyr on CD and vinyl in 2025 and released the single Mr. Dada the same year, then signed the band outright in December 2025, making Prostitute one of the newer American acts on a label historically associated with British electronic and industrial music. The group announced its first European tour for spring 2026 and has continued to play club and DIY rooms across the United States.
