Monster Rally

Monster Rally is the instrumental project of producer Ted Feighan, who started it in Cleveland, Ohio in 2010 and now works from Los Angeles. Feighan had played in several bands, including a stint as bassist in the screamo group Driver Side Impact, before turning to production; he built the project's early records from vinyl samples run through a Roland SP-303, collaging exotica, surf, psychedelia and hip hop into short, warm, beat-driven pieces. The catalog is extensive and self-released through his own Flowering Jungle imprint, running from a 2010 debut EP through Castaways Vol. 1, Botanica Dream (2022) and the Flower Shower EP. Echoes of the Emerald Sands, released March 27, 2026, is the project's tenth album and marks two departures at once: it is the first Monster Rally record built around guest vocalists, and the first made without sampling, with Feighan playing newly recorded instrumentation instead. He has said the album mattered to him mainly because it proved he could make a body of work he was proud of without using samples. Its twelve tracks feature LEISURE, TV Girl, Sessa, Jordana, Mei Semones, TOLEDO, MUNYA, Benet, X-Cetra, JORDANN, Nella and Miles Michaud of Allah-Las, alongside a Henry Mancini sample credit. The record was issued digitally and as a limited Sandy Emerald vinyl pressing of 300 copies.
