Womanish Girl

Womanish Girl is a Kansas City, Missouri blues-rock duo of guitarist and vocalist Katy Guillen and drummer Stephanie Williams. The two played together for roughly seven years in Katy Guillen & The Girls, a 2014 International Blues Challenge finalist that toured internationally, before reconvening as a stripped-down pair. The duo format is deliberate: guitar and drums only, with the two describing themselves as rock and rollers and lovers of the blues, and their reading of the form as raw and energetic rather than reverent. Recorded output under the Womanish Girl name is so far limited to singles issued through the duo's Bandcamp, among them Done Got Old and Nobody But You. The pair works primarily as a live act, playing Kansas City rooms and outdoor spaces such as Lemonade Park in the West Bottoms and appearing on local festival rosters.
