Five Finger Death Punch

Five Finger Death Punch is an American heavy metal band formed in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2005 by guitarist Zoltan Bathory, who took the name from martial arts films, and joined the following year by vocalist Ivan Moody. The two are the only members to appear on every album. The current lineup is completed by bassist Chris Kael, who joined in 2011, drummer Charlie Engen, who joined in 2018, and guitarist Andy James, who joined in 2020; earlier members include founding drummer Jeremy Spencer, who left in 2018 because of back problems, bassist Matt Snell and guitarist Jason Hook. The band's music is generally described as groove metal, alternative metal and hard rock, pairing thick down-tuned riffs and large choruses with Moody's alternation between screamed and clean vocals, and the group cites Pantera, Iron Maiden and Tool as influences. The debut album The Way of the Fist was released in 2007 and certified gold. War Is the Answer followed in 2009, reaching No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and going platinum, as did American Capitalist in 2011; the two-part The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, both volumes released in 2013, each debuted at No. 2. Later albums are Got Your Six in 2015, And Justice for None in 2018, F8 in 2020, AfterLife in 2022 and Legacy in 2026. The band has recorded with Rob Halford, Brian May and Brantley Gilbert, and in 2025 re-recorded a set of its best-known songs after a former label sold the masters without its consent. Its touring history includes the Mayhem Festival, Download, Rock am Ring, early support slots with Korn, Disturbed and Godsmack, ten shows for U.S. troops in Iraq in March 2010, and a twentieth-anniversary world tour beginning in July 2026. Shows are typically arena and amphitheater productions, at rooms such as Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View and iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach.
