Channel Tres

Channel Tres is the stage name of Sheldon Jerome Young, a rapper, singer, DJ and producer born May 26, 1991, in Compton, California, who works in hip house and West Coast hip hop. Raised largely by his great-grandparents in south Los Angeles, he spent much of his childhood in church, where he played drums behind the choir. He went to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to study music, then returned to Los Angeles and worked as a beatmaker, placing tracks with Duckwrth, Wale and Kehlani before recording under his own name. His self-titled debut EP arrived on Godmode in 2018 and produced Controller, which picked up BBC Radio 1 airplay and A-list rotation on Australia's Triple J; Topdown, from the following year's Black Moses EP, became his other signature track. He followed with i can't go outside in 2020, then signed to RCA for his first full-length album, Head Rush, released in 2024, and issued Enigma POV in 2026. His approach places a low, unhurried spoken-sung baritone over Chicago- and Detroit-indebted house rhythms, connecting West Coast rap cadence to dance-music structure, and he has been a frequent guest and collaborator across the electronic and pop worlds, appearing on records with Disclosure, Robyn, SG Lewis and Tyler, the Creator.
