Brennan Wedl

Brennan Wedl is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter and guitarist signed to ANTI- Records. She labels her own music "Nashville wench rock"; reviewers have placed it between early-career Sheryl Crow, the alt-country of Lucinda Williams and Kasey Chambers, and the 1990s rock of Shirley Manson and Courtney Love. Her independent catalogue runs back to Jersey Devil (2017), Holy Water Branch (2019) and the EP Sleeping With Jeans On (2021), followed by the 2024 singles "2 Dollar Pistol", "Kudzu" and "Fake Cowboy". She was named an artist to watch in 2024 and signed with ANTI- in 2026. Her self-titled album, her first for the label, is set for release on 21 August 2026 and was co-produced by Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee and Brad Cook. It was tracked live as a band across roughly ten days at Cook's studio in Durham, North Carolina, with contributions from Lindsey Jordan of Snail Mail, Colin Croom and Matt McCaughan; the players nicknamed the resulting sound "grungetry", a collision of live punk, 1990s grunge and rootsy Americana. "Pretty Little Fantasy" was the lead single, released with the album announcement, and was followed by "Six O'Clock News" and "Let's Be Models". Writing in No Depression, a reviewer described her singing as that of "someone empowered to be unapologetically loud", and focused on the record's unpolished, first-take quality and on lyrics about working out what kind of partner, friend and person to become. Wedl is booked by TBA Agency and tours behind the album with a full band.
